I made a start with my new cushioned leather wrist pads this weekend. I only wanted to trial the technique of shaping moist leather around the edges and it works rather well - it gives a really nice, smooth looking finish.
In doing so I realised that I didn't want to finish the leather around the Magic: the Gathering cards I use for the base. The leather looks and feels so nice that I must finish them off with the right materials.
I think wood would look best. I need to source some treated cuts (might go for a good laser cutting workshop for that) and decide how to fix the leather top piece to the body of the pad.
For now, just some photos to show what it looks like; imgur link.
